Steve received a mastertech award whilst working for Peugeot which recognizes technicians who show excellent levels of workmanship and technical knowledge on Peugeot's for many years. Nick one of SFM'S other technicians has also been accredited with a mastertech award whilst working for another Peugeot dealership. Steve was also awarded regional technician of the year by Peugeot in 1982 showing Steve's history, excellent knowledge and workmanship on Peugeot's.

Steve, also known as 'the gaffer' has over 35 years of experience working on Peugeots and other models. Steve is a big speedway racing fan and enjoys restoring classic Peugeots in his spare time.

Nick known as 'the messiah of wire' is SFM'S all round electrics guru. Nick has over 20 years of hands on experience. He achieved mastertech status in 1999. 



A turbo failure is common on Peugeot 206, 206 cc, 307, 407, and van, and is most often caused by owners failing to replace the oil and filter in the car as frequently as needed. In order to fix this, owners must renew the turbo, oil feed, oil pick up strainer, and return pipes. These car parts can be costly and inconvenient to replace, and prevention is much easier, however. So, make sure the oil and the filter in the Peugeot is replaced at least once each year or every 9656 kilometres regardless of how old the vehicle actually is.


ABS Fault- In the Peugeot 307, one of the most common faults is with the ABS, or anti lock braking system. This is most often caused by an air gap corrosion of the rear wheel sensors. In order for it to be repaired, the car parts must be cleaned and refitted correctly.

Roof Fault- In 207 cc and 208 cc models, there may be times when the convertible roof fails to operate; it might not open or close all the way. While this problem is not a major one, it should be rectified quickly as it can indicate problems with other Peugeot parts, especially the battery. In order to repair it, the roof must be opened manually; it will automatically re-calibrate its movements this way.

Diesel Injection- Did the diesel injection fault light come on? This could indicate that something is wrong with the Peugeot parts related to the high pressure system, like the injectors or pressure regulators. However, before these are replaced, try putting in a new fuel filtre first. This can often remedy the problem quickly and save you the cost of other, more expensive car parts.

Starting Problems- In most vehicles, when a starting problem occurs, drivers will turn to the battery. Often they will charge it or even replace it in an effort to get the car up and running. In a Peugeot, however, most starting problems don’t have anything to do with the battery. When the engine isn’t turning over or is turning over slowly, the most common issue is with the starter motor. This part will need to be repaired before the car will start or completely replaced.

Windscreen washer failureYou may have noticed that the windscreen washers are not working at all, this is a common fault on the Peugeot 207. The problem is caused by a faulty 5 amp fuse. This fuse is responsible for protecting the washer motor in cold conditions. You will need to replace the 5 amp fuse, to sort this problem out.
